on his work:
¡¡¡¡The
recent global exchanges between China and the rest of the world
has deeply affected her cultural and societal frameworks, the
changes has resulted in conflicts in society and altered my ideas
towards art and its appreciation. Nature is the expression of
the universe, art the manifestation of thoughts. A painting is
not art, merely a tool for art. I do not wish to invent a new
style or artistic form, instead I draw on the richness of our
heritage of art, using what is traditionally considered art, and
what is not usually considered art, to present what I call ¡°juxtaposition
in a group¡±. A grouping with a pretty open standard, yet it is
one that manifests conflicts in values that currently exists side
by side in our world today. Art is intricately linked to one¡¯s
understanding of the world and art has the power to go beyond
what is. To critique and shape our cultural environment, I employ
various methods and media to present different time-spans on the
medium. Because the selected medium itself has a certain history,
the positioning of this time and space is also very important.
In constructing, developing and regrouping the various histories
in my works, the boundary of history is removed and a new value
judgement is presented. Through this approach, the time aspect
of my works is accentuated. Furthermore, I enjoy floating between
my history and your history.
